Innovation award for students

Digital transformation of the university

Apps, websites, digital teaching/learning concepts ... the digital change in university teaching is manifold. But what requirements and wishes do students have in terms of studying, learning and university?

In order to promote and recognise student commitment to digitisation at the university, an innovation prize for students has been awarded since the winter semester 2016/17.

1. innovation award for students

On Teaching Day 2017 (18 January), the Innovation Prize for Students was awarded for the first time. Three student projects in the field of digitisation at the university were awarded. The three projects show the wide range of student involvement at the University of Paderborn - both in terms of content and by the participating faculties.

A total of three projects received awards and prizes of 500 euros each.

PAULa

PAULa was developed in the Innovative Ideas Seminar of Prof. Dr. Kundisch in the field of business informatics and has been operated and developed by the three developers since then. PAULa allows to easily create timetables based on the course catalogue in PAUL. A special feature is the collaborative creation of timetables, e.g. for the learning group, in a circle of friends or in a carpool. PAULa has been actively used by students for several semesters to create timetables.

Digital Debating Chamber

The Digital Debating Chamber project was awarded to the Debating Society Paderborn, a project area at the University of Paderborn. This is an interactive video platform for debates and political events. According to the Debating Society, it is intended to "promote the social, scientific, economic and cultural exchange of students and teachers at the University of Paderborn and to have an effect beyond the borders". The project has already met with a great response from students, but also from university teachers.
