(Status: June 2021)
SolidWorks is a CAD program that can be used to design drawings, models and assemblies. It is especially designed for 3D-CAD-construction, where single 3D-elements are aligned and dimensioned in space. It offers various special tools, e.g. for welded constructions, surface treatment, construction analyses, DFM and CAM.
Network licenses for education and research
For teaching and research, employees of the university can apply for network licenses at the IMT. To do so, please send an e-mail to imt(at)upb(dot)de.
You will then receive a download link for the software and further information on installation.
The network license education is centrally financed and can be used without cost sharing. The use is only allowed within the scope of teaching (computers of lecturers, pool rooms, laboratory computers for teaching, ...) Plans and documents that have been created have a watermark. Commercial use is prohibited.
The network licence research is not subject to any restrictions regarding use in publications, funded projects and patent applications. It does not have the watermark of the educational version and follows the same version cycle as the commercial version of SOLIDWORKS.
Institutions interested in a network license research can participate in this version. The costs will be divided among the participants.
Student Access Program (SolidWorks Student Premium - formerly SEK)
(replaces the previously offered Student Development Kit)
The Student Premium license is a fully functional version of SolidWorks 3D CAD software that students can use privately for non-commercial purposes. They can use SolidWorks to complete homework assignments, reinforce concepts covered during class, or for recreational use.
This requires a Student Access Code, which students and faculty can apply for on the Serviceportal:
(Licenses/Service/SolidWorks (Student Premium) - CAD Software for Students)
