Information about NTP

The Network Time Protocol NTP is a protocol for the adjustment of system clocks on computers and other network-compatible devices.

The IMT operates two NTP servers, namely time1.uni-paderborn.de (131.234.137.63) and time2.uni-paderborn.de (131.234.137.64). Both get their time from the public NTP servers of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig (ntp(1|2).ptb.de).

In addition, a radio clock (DCF77 time signal) is connected to time2, which is of essential importance for network operation, if the external connection fails.

You can also simply use time.uni-paderborn.de. In this case your request is always automatically forwarded to a suitable server.
