The IT infrastructure division takes care of what has to work in the background so that Wi-Fi, Internet, e-mail and other applications can be used at the University of Paderborn.
 

Organisation and tasks

The IT infrastructure division is divided into the task areas networks, servers and storage as well as IT security infrastructure. It is responsible for the selection, procurement, operation and continuous further development of all hardware components for the IT infrastructure (WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, datacenter, server, storage, security), provides network and security services (DNS, DHCP, VPN, data backup) and takes over the management of the virtualization platform (VMware) and the supported server operating systems (Debian Linux, Microsoft Windows Server).
