Promotion of media competence
For a small service unit, a comprehensive media technology support is not feasible in terms of personnel. For this reason alone, the basic principle applies: first help for self-help.The ZIM: Media (building H, first floor) therefore has a Media Learning Centre, where members of the university (lecturers, students, other staff) are instructed in the specific fixed or borrowable media technology of the university as required. Current technical problems are promptly clarified there and solutions are shown and developed.
Media literacy is a key competence in the information society. Unfortunately, competence cannot be delegated; everyone must develop it for themselves. In the ZIM's Media Learning Centre, however, no one is left to their own devices when it comes to media technology issues. Staff and tutors show possible solutions and help to overcome technical pitfalls in projects.
