Description
The Computer Algebra System (CAS) Maple (mathematicalmanipulationlanguage) supports the analysis, visualisation and solution of mathematical problems in the fields of algebra, analysis, discrete mathematics, numerics and other areas of mathematics via a graphical user interface. Maple also has an environment for developing mathematical programmes. In addition, the programme MapleFlow provides support for the development and documentation of technical calculations, especially in the engineering sciences. Maple is software developed by the Canadian company Waterloo Maple Inc ("Maplesoft"), a subsidiary of the Japanese company Cybernet Systems Co, Ltd.
Maple and Maple Flow at Paderborn University:
Paderborn University provides Maple as well as Maple Flow for a "Campus License Academic" for use in study, teaching and research. Maple and Maple Flow can be used as a
- Network licence on workstations, in pool rooms and laboratories
- Standalone licence on employees' computers
- HomeUse licence on students' computers

The IMT operates a licence server for Maple. When installing the software, you must select "Network License" as the licence type and specify the licence server

Standalone licences
Employees of Paderborn University can use a standalone licence of Maple and Maple Flow. To use the product and apply for a serial number (licence key) for Maple (Standalone) - Computer Algebra System, follow the steps below in the service portal:
- Visit the Service Portal at this link.
- In the Service Portal, first navigate to 'Licences' > 'Services' > 'Maple (Standalone)'.
- Click on 'Options'.
- Select the 'Application' option.
After applying, you will receive an email with download links, the licence key and additional information.
HomeUse licences
Students of Paderborn University can use a standalone licence of Maple and Maple Flow. To use the product and apply for a serial number (licence key) for Maple (HomeUse) - Computer Algebra System, follow the steps below in the service portal:
- Visit the Service Portal at this link.
- In the Service Portal, first navigate to 'Licences' > 'Services' > 'Maple (HomeUse)'.
- Click on 'Options'.
- Select the 'Application' option.
Once you have applied, you will receive an email with download links, the licence key and additional information.
Terms of use
The Maple and Maple Flow (HomeUse) software are provided by the Canadian company Waterloo Maple Inc ("Maplesoft"), a subsidiary of the Japanese company Cybernet Systems Co, Ltd. Employees and teachers of Paderborn University can download a standalone licence free of charge and register with Maplesoft.
The software is subject to the following conditions:
- The software may only be used in the context of studies, teaching and research at Paderborn University. Commercial use of the software is strictly prohibited.
- The software may be used at the longest until you leave Paderborn University (exmatriculation, end of contract). After leaving the university, the software must be uninstalled.
- The software may not be transferred, resold, leased, modified or duplicated.
- The serial number / purchase code required for licensing may not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances.
- If the computer on which the software is installed is passed on / sold, the software must be uninstalled beforehand.
- If the computer on which the software is installed is used by other persons, access to the software must be prevented by suitable settings (separate user accounts).
- The applicant accepts the licence conditions for the Maple/MapleFlow software displayed during installation as well as the terms of use of Maplesoft.
- Any violation of the terms and conditions of the software-specific licence agreement shall result in the cancellation of the authorisation to use the software.
- The personal data collected during registration and use will be processed in accordance with the data protection guidelines of the company Waterloo Maple Inc. ("Maplesoft") under its responsibility.
