DeepL translation programme
Description
DeepL is an online machine translation service operated by the public company DeepL SE. The service offers translations between 26 languages, including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Licences for employees
The University has purchased a small number of DeepL-Pro licences for the translation of texts, the costs of which are currently not passed on to the users, but which are allocated to employees on a temporary basis.
If you are an employee of the university and would like to use DeepL-Pro, please send an email to imt@upb.de. Licences are issued on a quarterly basis. If you need the licence for a longer period of time or beyond one quarter, it must be applied for again.
With the DeepL-Pro licence, texts can be translated without length limitation after registration at https://www.deepl.com. In addition to the translation in the web interface, up to 5 documents (Word or PowerPoint) can be translated per month.
Furthermore, the licence includes a desktop app with which texts can be translated without a web browser.
Free version
The translation of documents is still possible without a DeepL-Pro licence in the free version here.
In the meantime, documents (Word or PowerPoint) can also be translated with this. However, translations with the free version are not subject to the data protection agreement that the University of Paderborn University has concluded with DeepL. You may not process any personal data with the free version.
Terms of use
The DeepL terms and conditions and the Deepl data protection declaration apply to use.
